  • Industrial Technical Site Visit (about 20 min drive from the conference venue):
    • A new, modern district, the “Pearl of Helsinki” is being built in Arabianranta in Helsinki where residents, several companies and students will be able to network using the latest technology.
      Arabianranta Business Park is formed of six office buildings totalling 70 000 m² of floor space and providing a workplace for the moment for 4 000 persons. By the end of the decade this new, modern district will have 10 000 residents, 8 000 jobs and 6 000 students. The first residents of Arabianranta moved to the district in June 2001.
      Arabianranta has one of Helsinki’s biggest student concentrations, composed of the students of the University of Art and Design Helsinki, the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory, the Faculty of Culture and Services of the Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia, an audiovisual educational institution and Arcada, the Finland-Swedish University of Applied Science. The university campuses in Kumpula and Viikki add to the area’s student life. Built in conjunction with the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Media Centre Lume operates as a centre for Finnish cinema and television as well as stage design.
